Weight Management & Exercise

Learn how to manage your weight and get motivated

Fed up of yo-yo dieting? Using hypnosis, diets could be a thing of the past. Engaging with a hypnocoaching programme for weight loss could help you make lifelong changes to your diet and understand your relationship with food. This is not about restrictive dieting or no go foods, this is about changing your relationship with food and altering your mindset and behaviour towards it.

I will help you build structure and routine into your life, enabling you to start to get more active and build exercise into your daily life. This is not about running marathons, although it can be. This is about changing your attitude and mindset towards your motivation to be healthy and moving more, from walking upstairs to climbing mountains (if that's your thing!)

Hynocoaching programmes can include working collaboratively with a recommended Personal Trainer.

Obesity & Eating Disorders

Specialist programmes for managing your weight

There are many issues associated with over and under eating. Using food as comfort or control can be very damaging to your health and can even lead to serious physical and mental illness, including hospitalisation.

According to the NHS, men with a waist size of 94cm or more and women with a waist size of 80cm or more are more likely to develop obesity-related health problems. 63% of adults in England were overweight or obese (NHS Digital).

Hypno Gastric Band is a non-invasive form of weight loss using hypnotherapy to achieve the desired weight loss results.

There is no need to visit a hospital, doctor or nurse — ideal for people with any fears around this. So there will be no medical side effects, down time or recovery time. You don’t have a gastric band actually fitted; gastric band hypnotherapy does not involve surgery.

I also work with people with all types of eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and selective eating disorders. Hypnocoaching can be a very effective programme in managing your eating disorder as well as medical help from the NHS (if your eating disorder is significantly impacting your life, it's advisable to seek medical help from your GP). You can also get help from Overeaters Anonymous.

Conditions apply to this programme, please enquire for more information.

Stopping Smoking & Habits

Quit your bad habits for good and live a healthy, happy life

Hypnotherapy for stopping smoking is one of the most effect ways of stopping smoking in comparison to other techniques according to the New Scientist Magazine (October 1992), the British Medical Association and Complementary Therapies in Medicine. With multiple health benefits, stopping smoking will be one of the best decisions you will ever make and can make a drastic improvement to how you live your life. Some benefits to your health are immediate, also protecting those around you and saving you lots of money.

Hypnocoaching can also help with other habits including nail biting, hair pulling, finger cracking, nose picking, scab eating. I work with habits by initiating a deep state of relaxation reached in hypnosis where suggestions are made to create beneficial changes in habits or behaviour.

Cancer

Helping you through your cancer diagnosis and treatment

Some people with cancer use hypnotherapy to help them relax and cope with symptoms and treatment. Hypnotherapy can help some people feel more comfortable and in control of their situation. People with cancer most often use hypnotherapy for sickness or pain. There is some evidence that hypnotherapy helps with these symptoms. It can also help with depression, anxiety and stress (Cancer Research UK).

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Managing your symptoms and effects of IBS

Hypnotherapy has been used effectively to help manage the pain associated with irritable bowel. There is evidence to support the use of hypnotherapy in this condition for both adults and children. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Guidance (NICE) recommends the NHS should consider referring patients for hypnotherapy if their irritable bowel is persistent and has failed to respond to simple prescribed medicine.

Pain Management

Helping you to control and reduce pain

Pain can be physical and emotional. I can work with many issues associated with pain for example: fibromyalgia, back and joint pain, total body pain, chronic fatigue and Multiple Sclerosis.

Focusing on changing the thought patterns associated with pain and fears and anxieties around pain management, we will use methods to release and control pain. Making the connection between mind and body, you will be supported to manage and control your pain from within. I will teach you techniques that you can use at home to manage daily pain and relaxation techniques.

Fears & Phobias

Controlling your response to what you fear the most

A phobia is an irrational fear; a fear without good reason. Fears and phobias are very treatable with hypnotherapy and can often be resolved in 1-2 sessions. My own personal experience of hypnotherapy 10 years ago was to tackle a debilitating fear of flying. I have since travelled to many places in the world including flying alone; something I would have never imagined 10 years ago. During the sessions we will work on reducing the response to the fear and remaining calm when confronted by the trigger.

There are literally hundreds of phobias but the most common ones seen by hypnotherapists are below:

  • Fear of flying
  • Fear of heights
  • Fear of water
  • Fear of spiders/other insects
  • Fear of confined spaces
  • Fear of dentists
  • Fear of dogs
  • Fear of needles
  • Fear of pregnancy
  • Fear of sickness
