What hypnotherapy can help with

Hypnotherapy can be used to treat many issues, in fact I would say hypnotherapy can be used for for almost anything. Some of the conditions and issues that hypnotherapy can be very effective for:

  • Sleep/insomnia/snoring/narcolepsy
  • Pain management
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Mental health disorders, depression, post traumatic stress, OCD
  • Habits and addictions (e.g smoking, alcohol, nailbiting, drug misuse)

What we will do

In order to create change, it's very important that you come with an open mind and also with a commitment to yourself to make the desired changes. Moreover you will need to put in the work, I don't have a magic wand to make it right for you!

Each week after each session you will usually be set some tasks to complete. Don't worry I'm not talking lots of homework; but you might for example be asked to complete a food or habit diary to notice when a certain behaviour or mood might present itself. It will also benefit you to practice the techniques I teach you.

I will use a combination of tools and techniques from coaching methods, hynotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) or Sanomentology (known as the big brother to hypnotherapy!)


How a session might look

Sessions are in person or by digital means. Covid-19 has seen many of our sessions moved to various electronic platforms and this type of therapy is as effective as face to face. Video consulting can be more convenient for you, enabling access from all over the country or further afield.

A session usually lasts between 1 - 2 hours. The first session is usually 2 hours as this gives us plenty of time to get to know each other, to obtain a good understanding of why you have come to see me and to discuss a suggested approach. It's common for us to change this approach as things progress during our time together. It's important to personalise your treatment, so I will always check in with you that you are getting the most from your sessions.


4 session format for insomnia

Session 1

Client assessment and review of sleep diary (provided before the first session). Understand your issues and what you want to achieve (goals). Short hypnotherapy/relaxation session.

2 hours

Sessions 2-4

Review of sleep diary and bedtime hygiene (routine). Discussion of goals, lifestyle changes and what has been put into place. Hypnotherapy and NLP sessions.

1 - 1.5 hours

After our sessions

Taking the techniques taught during your sessions for use at home, including self-hypnosis with hypnotherapy recording.
